Christmas self-catering with a difference in our holiday house

The traditional Polish big Christmas meal is Wigilia on Christmas Eve, after which, children open their presents

This is a meatless meal with fish, especially carp, being one of the 12 courses.

Eating out in Poland is inexpensive. Book Christmas meals in the local restaurants or hotels for a taste of Poland and no washing-up. Or, if you prefer, cook a meal in the house. There is plenty of bone china to cater for a group of up to ten people and a dishwasher to make life easy afterwards.

Return back to the house to enjoy games, company or any other entertainment you desire around the open fire.

There is a selection of DVDs and videos should you just want to relax in front of the telly.

Food and drink is much cheaper in Poland than in the UK

You won't feel guilty or watch the purse strings out in Poland; meat and all food and drink is considerably less expensive than at home.

We have 4 large supermarkets in the town plus several smaller shops that can supply everything you require for a Happy Christmas.

Visit Cracow for a Christmas market to pick up a few extra goodies.

A lot of Poles buy tickets for New Year balls or Sylwester which is very much celebrated in Poland.

There's a large gathering for New Year in the old square in Cracow with musicians, singers and fireworks, as well as in smaller towns like Rabka.
