Local ski slopes
There are 3 main ski slopes in the town with a few others for beginners. Skiing in the local town of Rabka Zdroj is available on the following ski slopes:
Maciejowa Ski (the trail and cross country ski run from behind the house leads upwards towards Maciejowa hill) - the slope offers a drop of almost 200m. over a length of 8five0 metres. It is suitable for skiiers of average ability. There is also a beginner's slope of 300 m. with a 1 in ten gradient.

- Ski hire - ten zlotys (less than £2 at rates when we went) per hour for boots, skis and bindings, or about 30 zlotys for whole day
- Ski school with individual or group tuition
- Floodlighting until late at night.

This is a great ski slope for families with children who want to learn to ski. It's uncrowded, plenty of space to practice and all the support you require, at extremely reasonable prices.
Polczakowka - this popular ski slope is found next to Rd number 98 in between Rabka Zdroj and Mszana Dolna, to the north of the hill called Grzebien (means comb). 650 m run, 130m height difference. Floodlighting, snow machine, ski lift. Tel: 0048 (0)18 26 84 325 .
A bus runs to the ski slope from the local bus station in Rabka Zdroj about every fifteen minutes but it's a fair walk down to the bus station especially when carrying skis and boots. Take a bus in the direction of Olszówki and Mszana Dolna. Taxi or car hire better.
A couple of ski slopes for beginners:
U Zura - accessed from the neighbouring village of Chabowka in the direction of Raba Wyzna (higher Raba). A slope of 350 m, 1 in five incline. A ten0m stretch for children learning to ski. Small restaurant. Tel: 0048 (0)18 26 77 689

- Ski hire and lessons are available locally.
- You may also want to take a trip into Zakopane, half an hour's drive away to try out the ski jumps. There is a large choice of skiing centres if you have transport.
